Design Technology is taught throughout the school, building young people’s confidence in using a wide variety of materials, and developing their ability to follow a project through from initial design to completion.

In the Pre-Prep, Design Technology is integrated into everyday classwork. In Prep, a wide variety of projects are undertaken from Year 3 onwards, specifically chosen to complement pupils’ increasing skills, knowledge and understanding of materials, tools and processes. Moving monsters, talking bespoke clocks and movement-sensitive robots, have all emerged from the innovative Design Technology Department.

Design Technology is timetabled in partnership with Art lessons, on a project-by-project basis, to give young people the opportunity to develop and enjoy learning a range of practical skills, alongside their creative ones.
